B-PEN - OPEN (Interested? Contact president@lawrenceschoolbrookline.org)

Brookline Parent Education Network helps parents navigate the social, emotional and developmental challenges affecting Brookline's teens and pre-teens. B-PEN collaborates with the Public Schools of Brookline and PTO's to facilitate parent connections with:

• other parents

• school and town resources

• helpful information via written/electronic materials on a wide variety of teen concerns​

• We meet 6-7 times throughout the school year; each meeting is 1.5-2 hours. As Lawrence rep, you would help with communicating resources and publicizing guest speakers.

BROOKLINE EDUCATION FOUNDATION (BEF) - Rachel Goldman, Cathleen Schoen; bef@lawrenceschoolbrookline.org

The Brookline Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving Brookline’s commitment to excellence in public education. The BEF raises private funds to support innovative teaching, administrative leadership, professional development, and community participation in the schools.

DICE (DIVERSITY, INCLUSION, COMMUNITY & EQUITY) - Adrienne Fricke, Jessica Ullian; dice@lawrenceschoolbrookline.org

The Diversity, Inclusion, Community, & Equity group at Amos Lawrence School (DICE@Lawrence) was founded in 2018 to support faculty, administrators, parents, and students in their efforts to create a more equitable, informed, and anti-racist/anti-biased K-8 learning community.

ELPAC (THE ENGLISH LEARNER PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL) - Eiichiro Satake

ELPAC (The English Learner Parent Advisory Council is open to current and former parents/guardians of English learners (ELs) in Brookline. The purpose of the ELPAC is to promote and support the success of ELs.

ELPACs are intended by law to advise the district and schools regarding matters that impact English learners including language acquisition programs, educational opportunities for ELs, and improvement plans as they relate to ELs. This is a great way for parents/guardians of current and former English learners to be involved and have their voice heard.

Promoting environmental stewardship through education and hands on events at school.

Work with Lawrence staff on project-based learning opportunities for students including Makerspace/Makerfair opportunities, visual arts enrichment and more.

LAWRENCE LOGOWEAR - Jennifer Cobb, Desiree Prevoo

Design new Lawrence gear and work with volunteers to sell logowear at various PTO events and during the holidays.

METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - OPEN (Interested? Contact president@lawrenceschoolbrookline.org)

Throughout its history, METCO has provided students with a strong academic foundation, as well as an environment rich in cultural, educational, ethnic and racial diversity.

Over the last half century, METCO has aided the graduation of more than 100,000 alumni and supports 3,300 students annually from Boston and Springfield in 37 suburban school districts and 190 schools participating from across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL - Jane Licurse

Brookline Safe Routes To School (SRTS) is a coalition of parents and teachers that works with PSB and other town departments to identify and address safety issues in the vicinity of Brookline schools. SRTS helps promote walking/biking/rolling/busing to school to improve health, ease congestion, and reduce CO2 emissions. Help serve as a liaison between your school PTO, admin, and the greater community to bring concerns relating to safety, walking, biking, congestion, etc to the attention of the town.

SCHOOL COUNCIL - Sally Madsen, Alice Wong Tucker, Jessica Ullian

School Council is a group of teachers, staff and parents at Lawrence that advises the principal on identifying educational goals for the Lawrence school and formulating the School Improvement Plan.

SEPAC (Special Education Parent Advisory Council) - Margo Jones

SEPAC is a parent group charged with advising Brookline's School Committee and Public Schools Administration regarding issues affecting students on IEPs and 504 plans and their families. We also support students and families by sharing information, connecting people and resources and providing a forum for meeting other families who share interests.

SET-J (Send an Educator to Japan) - lawrence.setj@gmail.com

This PTO program offers Lawrence school educators an opportunity to participate in a short trip to Japan. The program has been sending a selected Lawrence School teacher to Japan each year since 2002. Also See Japanese Newsletter

Design the school-wide yearbook, organize the cover art contest for students, and set up sales in the spring.
