Waikar Clothing and School Supply Drive
My name is Keya B. Waikar, and I’m in 8th grade. This past December break, my family and I went to India to visit relatives. While there, we also got the amazing opportunity to go on a City Walk, guided by a member of the Salaam Baalak Trust. The Salaam Baalak Trust takes children who live on the streets in New Delhi, India, and provides them with housing, schooling, healthcare providers, counseling, and meals. Children escape from their houses due to various reasons such as abuse, in search of opportunities, lack of education, poverty or even loss of family. At the Salaam Baalak Trust, children no longer have to sell balloons on the side of the road or work for someone in order to get one meal.
With this experience, I felt really motivated to do something for the organization. I have planned a donation drive that I think would work great in the Lawrence School. I really do hope you are able to donate for this cause. With all I’ve been given, I truly want to help others who don’t have as many opportunities as I do. With our community making a change, I really do think we can work together to help others.
