Aftercare Options

Brookline Rec (Gr. K–6) 2:20–6 pm
The Brookline Recreation Department runs an after-school program for students in grades K–6 at the Eliot Recreation Center. Activities include outdoor play, golf, ice skating, open gym, cooking, arts and crafts, homework club, community service, seasonal activities, and field trips. Transportation to the program and snack are provided. For information or to be put on the waiting list call 617-730-2069.



A number of before-and after-school intramural sports (e.g., Before-school games in the gym, Double-Dutch jump rope; Cross Country, etc.) have been offered in the past.

All games are on Wednesdays (against other Brookline schools). Practice is once a week (Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday)

• Spring: Co-ed Indoor Soccer
• Spring: Co-ed Indoor Soccer
• Cross Country (Gr. 5–8): One meet in the fall
• Track (Gr. 5–8): One meet in the spring

Performing Arts

Town-wide Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra and Chorus Gr. 7-8
Town-wide Band, Jazz Band, and Orchestra rehearse after school for an hour, with a second, school-based rehearsal during elective period. Tryouts are for seating purposes only.

Mondays from 3:30–4:30 at Lincoln School begins mid-September

Mondays from 4:30–5:30 at Lincoln School begins mid-September

Thursdays from 3:30–4:30 at Brookline High School begins first week of October
•  Town-wide Chorus Gr. 6, 7, 8
Mondays from 3:30–4:30 at Lawrence School begins mid-September
Town-wide Chorus is an auditioned/recommended group for students with a strong desire to sing. Rehearsals are Mondays after school for an hour. The group performs at least twice per year and performs on a field trip. For more information, contact Holly Ahearn (617-879-4331).

Brookline Youth Orchestra (Gr. 5–8) by audition Wednesdays from 6:45–7:45 at Driscoll School

 6–8 Play
All students in grades 6-8 can try out for the play in early September; watch the weekly email update for details. Students will meet two times per week (days TBD) and performances will be December 12 & 13.
