NEWS AND NOTES
The Food Day Festival last week was a another great success. Our appreciation goes out once again to organizer Bettina Neuefeind and all the volunteers who made it so delicious and fun! Everyone enjoyed the great food, and children learned about good nutrition and healthy eating. Congratulations to everyone who submitted their entries for the recipe contest! Here is the list of winners:
1st Place: Toshi Ohguchi
2nd Place/tie: Teddy Gleba, Kei Hato
3rd Place/tie: Yurika Tarui, Teo Neuefeind
Runners Up: Sophia Root, Yuen Ler Chow
Thanks to the local businesses for their support and donations: ChopChop, Cutty’s, Farmers to You, The Fireplace, Fresh Truck, Olive Connection — and to the Lawrence 8th graders and cafeteria staff who helped as well.
PTO Board Meeting will be this Tuesday, 7:PM in the library. All are welcome to join us. At this working meeting, we’ll review the budget and finances, and plan for upcoming events and activities and look at volunteer needs.
Principal Rick Rogers and Vice Principal Laura Horst will be doing a presentation called “Supporting a Safe, Just, and Caring Community: Olweus Survey Results.” The presentation will provide an overview to our social-emotional learning programs, as well as our bullying prevention efforts. We will also engage parents in a discussion of the results from last spring’s Olweus Bullying survey.
Lawrence School Directory is available online to all families. Please contact Robin LeWinter, to be added or removed from the database.
LOOKING AHEAD
Have you heard of the PTO play? Ever come watch it and see how much fun everyone is having? Would you like to be part of that excitement? Teachers and parents join together to perform an original play written by Lawrence parents. You can act, sing, dance, or work behind the scenes. We need costume designers and props coordinators. We need a keyboard player. Rehearsals start in early January (2 nights/week), and the performances are 3 consecutive nights in mid-March. If you’re interested in learning more, please email Nancy Gerber at antinancy@rcn.com.
