Japan and Ecuador Earthquake Fundraiser
Thank you so much for supporting Japan and Ecuador Earthquake Fundraiser on June 3rd. We raised $620 total within 1 hour! We sent a $310 donation from Lawrence PTO to each countries; Consulate General of Japan in Boston and The Embassy of Ecuador in the United States. We hope this donation will be helpful for both Japan and Ecuador.
From SET-J (Sending Educators To Japan)
Have a nice trip, Ms. Jewell! Our Literacy Specialist, Ms. Terry Jewell, is off to Japan on June 24th, where she will spend time in Kyoto, Hiroshima and Tokyo for 10 days. You can follow Ms. Jewell’s adventures on her blog (http://mrsjewellsjapantrip.edublogs.org/).
The “Sending Educators To Japan” program, which is funded by the PTO, has been sending Lawrence teachers to Japan since 2002. Click here to learn more about SET-J. If you have any questions, please contact email@example.com.
If you haven’t pick up your summer reading yet, the books are available at the Brookline Library and at local Bookstores. Download the complete reading lists at the following URL:

Become a Member of the Lawrence PTO
The PTO is looking for volunteers to take a leadership role in the PTO for the 2016-17 school year. If you’d enjoy working closely with your principal and school leaders in a collegial environment to further strengthen Lawrence, we want to hear from you.

Join the Stone Soup Food Day Festival Team Now!
The fifth annual Lawrence Food Day Festival is scheduled for October 20th, from 5 to 7 p.m., and we need your help to make it happen. The festival is a collective effort by a talented group drawn from the school community —
like the proverbial stone soup, small contributions by many add up to a deeply nourishing and satisfying meal for all!
If you care about food and kids, please join the crew, whether you can help at the festival or in planning.
We especially need someone to help with community outreach this summer, as well as someone who can take on big picture coordination! This is an opportunity to work with partners within the school district and in the larger community, as well as with the kids, and is a really rewarding effort.
Collages will be posted September 2016. Please hand in your collage to Miss Magno this year, or next year no later than September 9, 2016.

Now is your chance to honor a teacher!
The Brookline Education Foundation has kicked off its end-of-the-year Honor a Teacher campaign. Please consider making a donation of any size on behalf of a special teacher, specialist, administrator, librarian, nurse, or coach. They will receive notification from the BEF of your gift. Our teachers greatly appreciate the recognition and your support of grants in our schools, preK-12th grade. Let those special teachers know how important they are! Brookline Public Library’s Summer Reading Program
Our summer reading program, “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!”, begins on June 20th this year. Special visitors will be putting on magic shows, teaching kids to make homemade instruments, explaining the wonders of what goes on inside a beehive, and more. Children may sign up online through wandooreader.com/brooklinelibrary/srp, or at their favorite Brookline library.
Summer reading participants who’ve read four books by the end of summer can bring their reading logs to the Coolidge Corner Branch on August 17th, or the Putterham Branch on August 18th, to claim their prize and make an ice cream sundae!
