On April 30th, the Brookline-based nonprofit MEDIAGIRLS will be hosting a screening of EMBRACE, a poignant documentary that follows one woman’s experience of devoting her life to achieving the “ideal body type,” only to find that reaching this goal made her miserable. What she chose to do next led her to happiness, and sparked an international media frenzy. The screening will take place at the Showcase Superlux theater in Chestnut Hill, and be followed by conversation about boosting our body image and self-worth with MEDIAGIRLS founder and Executive Director Michelle Cove, and Pebbles, co-host of HOT 96.9 FM’s morning show “The Get Up Crew.” Buy tickets and learn more at http://www.mediagirls.org/embrace. All proceeds go towards bringing the MEDIAGIRLS after-school program to more girls at underserved schools in Boston.

NEW FAMILY WELCOME POINT PERSON:
Join Lawrence's New Family Welcome by being a first point of contact to families new to Lawrence. The welcome team is in search of 1 or 2 more members to help with school tours, showing new families around the school and answering any questions they may have. Tours currently occur one Tuesday per month at 8:15 (after drop-off) and one Thursday at 1:40 (before pick-up), so anyone who can commit to two or three of those per semester would be a big help! The welcome team would appreciate any help, but is seeking a middle school parent/caregiver, in particular, to add to the range of experience available to new families. Please email email@example.com to get involved.
