Half of all teens admit they’re addicted to their technology devices, and depression among teen girls is on the rise. Dads and male guardians play an enormous role in the well-being of their girls, and we are hosting a “Fathering in the Screen Age” panel to provide concrete strategies to keep dads and daughters close. The panel, presented by Showcase SuperLux in Chestnut Hill, MA, is on Sunday, January 28, 4:00 to 6:00 pm, and includes local celebs with tween or teen daughters: Phil Lipof, local NBC Emmy-winning anchor; Setti Warren, former two-time Mayor of Newton and gubernatorial candidate; Ramiro Torres, morning personality on radio HOT 96.9; Jon Badalament, Head of Programming for The Fatherhood Project; and Matt Cooney; Executive Director of The Brookline Teen Center. MEDIAGIRLS Executive Director Michelle Cove will moderate. Women welcome too! Learn more and buy tix at http://www.mediagirls.org/panel.

NEW FAMILY WELCOME POINT PERSON:
Join Lawrence's New Family Welcome by being a first point of contact to families new to Lawrence. The welcome team is in search of 1 or 2 more members to help with school tours, showing new families around the school and answering any questions they may have. Tours currently occur one Tuesday per month at 8:15 (after drop-off) and one Thursday at 1:40 (before pick-up), so anyone who can commit to two or three of those per semester would be a big help! The welcome team would appreciate any help, but is seeking a middle school parent/caregiver, in particular, to add to the range of experience available to new families. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved.
