EVENT:  Friday, June 3, after school at the front lobby.

On April 14 and 16, the large earthquakes struck Kumamoto and Oita prefectures, southwest region of Japan. It was a magnitude 6.2 and 7.0 and a series of earthquakes still continues. The two earthquakes killed at least 49 people and injured about 3,000 people. Japan doesn’t recover from 2011 Great East Japan earthquake and tsunami (which killed around 16,000 people) yet, so these earthquakes shocked a lot of people in Japan.

At the same time, the huge Ecuador earthquake occurred on April 16 with a magnitude 7.8. At least 660 people were killed and about 27,700 people injured. Also, because of rain, the towns have been damaged more.

The Lawrence Community, including many families from the both countries, hope all our friends and relatives in Japan and Ecuador are safe and healthy.
We would like to show our support for both countries in the fundraiser. We will have a rice-balls sale and a baked sale on Friday, June 3, after school at the front lobby. We will send the donation to the Consulate General of Japan in Boston (
and the Embassy of Ecuador ( Any financial donation would be appreciated! Please stop by the fundraiser and show your support! If you would like to help making food, please drop off your food donation (nut free please, and include your ingredients) at office (before 1:20pm) or front lobby (after 1:20pm).
