We are excited to announce our seventh annual Brookline Cherry Blossom Festival! The festival will take place on May 12, 2018 from 12-4 pm in the Brookline High School Quad (115 Greenough Street, Brookline, MA). The festival is a family-friendly, community event that is a collaboration between the Brookline High School Japanese Program and The Genki Spark.
The festival highlights Japanese culture with taiko drum performances from artists all over New England, Japanese dance, kimono, music and calligraphy demonstrations. In addition, crafts, games, and activities are available for people of all ages! Japanese food will be sold by Itadaki, Snappy Kitchen, Beard Papa, Gen Sou En, and Japonaise Bakery.
Admissions is a suggested donation of $5 for students, and $10-$20/family. All proceeds support the BHS Japanese Exchange Program Scholarship Fund and promotion of Japanese arts in New England.
Special thanks to our sponsors: Consul General of Japan in Boston, Brookline Commission for the Arts, Brookline High School PTO and The Japan Society of Boston.
Please help by sharing this information in your newsletters, newspapers, etc. Attached is an image for PR and copy of our festival poster as well. Feel free to contact us anytime with questions!

NEW FAMILY WELCOME POINT PERSON:
Join Lawrence's New Family Welcome by being a first point of contact to families new to Lawrence. The welcome team is in search of 1 or 2 more members to help with school tours, showing new families around the school and answering any questions they may have. Tours currently occur one Tuesday per month at 8:15 (after drop-off) and one Thursday at 1:40 (before pick-up), so anyone who can commit to two or three of those per semester would be a big help! The welcome team would appreciate any help, but is seeking a middle school parent/caregiver, in particular, to add to the range of experience available to new families. Please email email@example.com to get involved.
