Big Picture photo and movie making workshops for 6th-10th graders are now open. Big Picture offers a “boutique” learning experience for no more than 7 students per class. It is part art school/part camp. Our home base is the Big Picture teaching space near the Franklin Park Zoo, where we conduct lessons, review work and edit our projects. About 2/3rds of the class takes place “on the go” shooting and filming around the Boston area.
All photo classes are taught on professional digital SLR cameras supplied by our program. During film classes, students write, shoot, act and edit a short movie.
A shuttle for drop off and pick up is offered from Jamaica Plain which is great for Brookline, West Roxbury, Roslindale and JP families. NEW FAMILY WELCOME POINT PERSON:
Join Lawrence's New Family Welcome by being a first point of contact to families new to Lawrence. The welcome team is in search of 1 or 2 more members to help with school tours, showing new families around the school and answering any questions they may have. Tours currently occur one Tuesday per month at 8:15 (after drop-off) and one Thursday at 1:40 (before pick-up), so anyone who can commit to two or three of those per semester would be a big help! The welcome team would appreciate any help, but is seeking a middle school parent/caregiver, in particular, to add to the range of experience available to new families. Please email email@example.com to get involved.
