As you may know, on October 13 the Board of Selectmen and School Committee selected the site of the Baldwin School as the location for the 9th Elementary School. This exciting development means that Brookline will be building and opening its first new elementary school in more than 60 years. The project now moves into the Feasibility Study phase which is expected to conclude in April 2017. During this stage, the Building Committee works with the architects to consider design options and select a preferred design. Community members are invited to the Public Kickoff of the Feasibility Study phase scheduled for Monday, December 12 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course, 1281 West Roxbury Parkway in Brookline. The 9th School Building Committee, the School Department, and Jonathan Levi Architects will provide a complete update on the timeline, process, and objectives of the Feasibility Study phase. The meeting will include public comment and community members are invited to ask questions and share their ideas on the project. NEW FAMILY WELCOME POINT PERSON:
Join Lawrence's New Family Welcome by being a first point of contact to families new to Lawrence. The welcome team is in search of 1 or 2 more members to help with school tours, showing new families around the school and answering any questions they may have. Tours currently occur one Tuesday per month at 8:15 (after drop-off) and one Thursday at 1:40 (before pick-up), so anyone who can commit to two or three of those per semester would be a big help! The welcome team would appreciate any help, but is seeking a middle school parent/caregiver, in particular, to add to the range of experience available to new families. Please email email@example.com to get involved.
