NEWS AND NOTES

Family Fun Night is finally here! Come join the fun this Friday from 6:00 – 8:15 p.m. We’ll have dinner (for purchase), an exciting raffle and loads of great activities including Carnival Games, Craaazy Hair, Teacher Trivia, Origami Valentines and Face Painting. Admission is $5 per person (max $20 per family).

FFN raffle prizes include themed gift baskets and big-name sports tickets. Prices are $1.00 for gift baskets and $5.00 for sports tickets. Tickets will be sold in advance, in the lobby all week long and at the door on Friday.

It’s not too late to volunteer! If you can take a shift, please sign up here.

Help us keep Family Fun Night green by bringing your own water bottle for free water fill-ups. The Lawrence Green Team will also hold a special raffle. Bring a reusable water bottle to the event and you will be entered into a drawing to win fabulous local gift cards.

The PTO Online Auction also kicks off on February 7 and continues through Sunday, March 2. Look for more details soon.

Kindergarten Registration at Lawrence is Tuesday and Wednesday in the library from 7:30am to 9am each day.  See details on the Public Schools of Brookline website.

The Spring Lawrence Special Activity Catalogs will be distributed to students after February Break and will be available on the PTO website after February 25th. The new registration deadline will be March 5th rather than the originally planned deadline of February 14.

AROUND TOWN

The Brookline Commission for Women is hosting a Childcare Forum on Wednesday, February 5 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the Brookline Main Library. Panelists will speak on the benefits and challenges of various types of daycare options that are available for families with children in the birth-to-5 age range. Representatives from BEEP, the Brookline Health Department and the Brookline Police Department will discuss safety, proper licensing and background checks. There will be a question and answer period following the panel discussion. Questions? Please email or call 617-730-2734. This event is free and open to the public.

See the musical production of “Thoroughly Modern Mille” by Brookline High School Performing Arts students, February 5 at 3:30 p.m. and February 6, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Dubbs Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for students. The show tells the story of a small town girl who moves to New York City in the 1920s and her ensuing adventures.

Brookline’s Pan-Asian Lunar New Year Celebration is on Saturday, February 8 from 12:00 – 3:00 pm in the MLK Room and Atrium of the high school. Free & open to all. Light refreshments; music, crafts, games and performances. RSVP here; for information, contact Chris Chanyasulkit by email. Please come to the Brookline Public Library’s Midwinter Mingle on Sunday February 9th! This is the 16th annual event to celebrate the library and raise funds for programming and building enhancements. Join neighbors and friends at the Main Branch of the Library for cocktails, good food, and conversation. Enjoy music by the Winiker Brothers and take home something fabulous from our auction, featuring an incredible photograph by Brookline’s renowned artist, Nick Nixon, and a Patriots football signed by Tom Brady. It’s a great way to support the library. Tickets for $125 each are available here.
