NEWS AND NOTES

The PTO Phonathon was a great success this year thanks to all your contributions.  A huge thank you to all the Phonathon callers last Monday night: Jennifer O’Neill, Charlotte Rice, Kimberly Clouse, Patrick McAllister, Harold Price, Sharon Grimberg, Richard Bergin, Kay Kobayashi, Susan Dubin.  Their efforts helped reach many Lawrence families and brought in a substantial number of donations.  If you have made a pledge please complete your transaction with a check or via Paypal.  If we could not reach you, please consider participating in the school’s largest fundraiser.  Your gift will help us continue to provide support for teachers and fund projects that enrich our children’s experience at Lawrence School. We look forward to your continued involvement with the PTO. Thank you again for all your support.

Thank you to all of the 8th graders, parent volunteers as well as Owen Edwards, Sydney Fuller Jones and Ms. Horst who all helped with the Gingerbread House Making on Friday. It was yummy fun that raised funds for a good cause: scholarship funds for the 8th grade NYC trip.

Thank you also to Emily Tevald and Kathryn Brown for organizing the Teachers’ Appreciation Lunch and all the families who donated food for the event.

Music is in the air! The PTO and Performing Arts Council are pleased to present the award-winning a cappella group, BALL IN THE HOUSE. Performances will be at 8:45am (grades 6-8) and 10am (grades 3-5) on Monday, December 14 in the auditorium. Parents are welcome to attend. For more information please contact, Lisa Viola at lviola@rcn.com.

Are you ready?  The PTO Play will host its read-through on Tuesday, December 15th, from 7 to 9 pm, at the Lawrence auditorium.  This Lawrence tradition joins parents and teachers in an original musical production.  Rehearsals start the first week in January; details will be given at the read-through.  If you are interested in participating in this fun activity but cannot make Tuesday’s meeting, please let Nancy Gerber (antinancy@rcn.com) know.  Casting will be determined after the meeting.  We continue to need behind-the-scenes people do help with props and costumes, and perhaps choreography.  Hope to see you on the 15th.

Lawrence Logo Holiday Sale! Just in time for the holiday gifting season, we will be selling the following Lawrence logo goods: water bottles, sports necklaces, charm bracelets, and last chance for 2015 T-shirts and sweatshirts!
The sale will be on Wednesday, December 16  at 7:45 AM and 2:30 PM in the Lawrence School front vestibule.
For more information and questions please contact Alice Y Tseng (aytseng916@hotmail.com)

Do you like fashion or enjoy sewing?  The PTO play is looking for a costumes coordinator.  Rehearsals start in January, but we’d love to chat with you now to get you up-to-date on the show.  If you’re interested, please let Nancy Gerber (antinancy@rcn.com) know.  We aren’t looking for anything elaborate, just someone looking to have some fun with fabric.
