This week: Used Book Fair (Tuesday through Friday), Gr 2 Concert, Latino Culture Group Meeting and Gr 5-to-6 Transition Meeting (Thursday), IPRs (Friday).

NEWS AND NOTES
The Used Book Fair starts Tuesday. Thanks to everyone who has donated books so far! We have a great selection from pre-K to adult, fiction and non-fiction, all priced super low — paperbacks and baby board books are 50 cents and all hardcover books are just one dollar. If you have not donated books yet and are doing some spring cleaning, you can still bring them in through Wednesday. Sale hours:
- Tuesday 8 am – 2:30 pm (students with their classes);
- Tuesday 2:30 – 6 pm (open for all: parents, students and staff) ;
- Wednesday 7:30 am – 3:30 pm and 5 – 6 pm;
- Thursday 7:30 am – 3 pm and 5 – 6 pm; and
- Friday 7:30 am – 2 pm.
We still need LOTS of help setting up on Monday (noon to 5:00 p.m.) and selling Tuesday through Friday. If you have a free hour or two this week, please sign up for a time slot online here or contact Pamela Iguchi.
The new Lawrence Latino Cultural Group holds its first meeting this week. LLCG was formed to celebrate and create awareness around all of the many Hispanic/ Latino Cultures at Lawrence school. Please join other interested families for their very first planning meeting this Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. All Lawrence parents and children are welcome. (A movie will be shown to entertain the youngsters.) Pizza will be available for $2 a slice; please bring your own water bottle. Join the 4th annual Lawrence School Fun Run Sunday, May 31! All are welcome for the one-mile fun-run/walk which starts at 9:00 a.m. at Lawrence Park. At 9:30, the 5K fun-run/walk begins (parental supervision required if child is below 4th grade). Registration is $20 per person for either race. Fee includes a 4th annual Lawrence School Fun Run T-Shirt, entry into a raffle with chances to win a variety of prizes from local retailers, music and entertainment, and healthy snacks.
Registrations will be accepted between 8:15 – 9:00 a.m. on race day, but t-shirts are not guaranteed for any registration received after this Friday, May 22nd. Volunteers are needed, especially to guide runners and walkers during the 5K. Please contact Keith Carson.
Dr. Erik Von Hahn presents a fourth workshop for parents and guardians of middle and high school students. The topic of promoting social skill development in children with special needs will be covered. Wednesday 20 May, 8:30 – 10:00 a.m. at Town Hall. Come with questions — free and no reservation required.
The Brookline Recreation Department and the Brookline Public Library are hosting “Tee Off at the Library” for families, teens and adults on Saturday, June 20 from noon to 2:30 p.m. Participants will enjoy 18 holes of mini-golf as they weave in and out of books and reading areas. In addition to the golf there will be food, drinks, face painting (for kids and families), henna tattoos (for teens), and a chance to snap photos and capture the day’s events. Ticket and schedule information:
- Families (up to four people, ages 5 and up): $10, noon – 2:30 pm.
- Teens (ages 12 to 18): $5, 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.
- Adults: Tickets $5 online until June 18 or $10 at door.
